Open roles on employer career boards across Europe, October 2026 (early series): countries, functions, sectors, remote work, salary disclosure, net openings.
Early series: our history is shorter than three months. Levels and shares are solid for the boards we track; month-to-month trends are not meaningful yet.
Key findings
On 2026-10-23, 298,722 roles were open on the career boards of 11,706 employers we track in Europe (month to date). 9% were remote and 5% stated a salary (4% in EU member states, where pay information before hire becomes a legal duty under Directive (EU) 2023/970). This is an early series: the net change over 2 observed days on the fixed panel was 99 roles (284 openings, 185 closures). Source: Arcadium Data, data as of .
- United Kingdom has the most open roles on tracked boards: 75,178 (25% of the total).
- Business, finance and admin is the largest function: 20% of open roles.
- Salary disclosure ranges from 1% of postings in Norway to 11% in Italy (countries with 2,000+ open roles).
- Largest net riser among employers with 100+ open roles: F&F (+54 roles).
- Early series: our history starts on 2026-10-21, so fewer than three months of data stand behind these numbers. Month-to-month trends will only carry weight from January 2027; until then read the levels and shares, not the direction.
Open roles on the fixed panel, 2026-10-21 = 100
Early series. Index of roles open on the boards that were already tracked on 2026-10-21 (=100). Boards added later are left out, so growth in coverage cannot show up as growth in hiring.

Only employers we could match to an official register (Norway, Finland, France) carry a NACE code: 17,465 of 298,722 open roles (6%). Treat the sector split as a sample, not as the market.

Methodology
- Source: public job postings on the career boards employers publish through ten applicant tracking systems (Greenhouse, Workday, Ashby, Lever, Personio, Recruitee, Teamtailor, Workable, SmartRecruiters, Oracle Recruiting Cloud), crawled daily. Staffing agencies and duplicate postings are removed.
- Open roles: postings on the board at the end of the window. Country is the first country of the posting; Europe means EU-27, EEA, the UK and Switzerland.
- Openings and closures: counted on a fixed panel, the boards already tracked on 2026-10-21, from 2026-10-22 to 2026-10-23. A posting is an opening on the day we first see it and a closure on the day it disappears from the board. Boards added later are excluded from the flows.
- Index: roles open on the panel, 2026-10-21 = 100. Net % = (openings - closures) / roles open at the start of the observed window; shown only above 200 roles.
- Remote: the posting is flagged remote by the ATS. Salary stated: the ATS record carries a pay range (minimum or maximum). It is a floor for real disclosure, because many postings give pay in free text only.
- Sector: NACE Rev. 2 section from the official register entry (Norway, Finland, France), where the employer website matches a register entity. Function: ISCO-08 group of the job title.
- Titles that match no occupation rule are shown as "Unclassified title" (27% of open roles).
- Risers and fallers: employer level, panel boards, 100+ open roles. Names of people never appear.
Coverage and caveats
- This is the hiring we can observe on 12,177 tracked employer career boards (11,706 employers), not the whole labour market. Small employers, public-sector hiring, agency hiring, and firms that recruit through job portals only are under-represented. Large employers on the supported systems are over-represented.
- Early series: our history starts on 2026-10-21, so fewer than three months of data stand behind these numbers. Month-to-month trends will only carry weight from January 2027; until then read the levels and shares, not the direction.
- Observed window of openings and closures: 2026-10-22 to 2026-10-23 (2 days). October 2026 is not over yet; figures are month to date.
- Postings can be reposted or closed for reasons other than a filled vacancy; a closure is not a hire.
- Employer boards by system: smartrecruiters 90,053 roles on 673 boards; workday 59,225 roles on 2,223 boards; oracle 32,576 roles on 365 boards; greenhouse 27,577 roles on 1,471 boards; recruitee 25,815 roles on 1,764 boards; teamtailor 23,856 roles on 1,820 boards; personio 20,827 roles on 2,533 boards; ashby 13,217 roles on 1,103 boards; lever 3,473 roles on 166 boards; workable 2,103 roles on 59 boards.
