What we observe in job ads
Of 1,920 open job ads that 416 employers hiring in Finland publish on their own career sites, 83 (4%) state a salary or pay range; 32 employers (8%) state pay on at least one ad.
Sample caveat: ads on employers' own career sites (the applicant tracking systems we read daily), staffing agencies left out; job boards and agency ads are not in it, so this is not a national rate. Pay counts when the ad states a minimum or maximum in a field the job board publishes; pay written only in the ad text is not counted. Shares move as we add employers. What changes for job ads?
Article 5 of Directive (EU) 2023/970 gives applicants the right to know the starting pay or its range before the interview, for example in the job ad, and bars employers from asking about pay history. How it must be shown is set by each national law.
